Primary Stages Einhorn School of Performing Arts (ESPA) is thrilled to announce ESPAfest 2020. Join us for a week of FREE workshops and master classes.
Monday, February 10
2:00pm – 4:00pm: FREE WORKSHOP – A Shakespeare Potluck with Geoffrey Owens (Actor, Romeo and Juliet on Broadway (with Orlando Bloom), Tyler Perry's “The Haves and the Have Nots”; Director, King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, Richard III, among others)
Broadway, film, and TV veteran and Shakespeare aficionado Geoffrey Owens will open our studios to anyone who wants to work on a piece, ask questions about text, or just discuss how to approach this rich work. Bring some snacks (for yourself or to share!) and get ready to dive into Shakespeare with the master.
Everyone is welcome! This workshop will be both on-your-feet work and discussion – participants can bring in monologues and/or scenes, read text off the page, or just bring in questions about Shakespeare, Shakespearean text, and Geoffrey’s process working on it as both an actor and director.
Tuesday, February 11
6:30pm – 9:30pm: Seeing Between the Lines – The Confession of Lily Dare with Erin Daley (Associate Artistic Director, Primary Stages)
Prior to the workshop, see a performance of the Primary Stages production The Confession of Lily Dare by Charles Busch, and then come together as a class on February 11 to talk about the production from a dramaturg’s perspective! Discuss dramaturgical inquiry, such as why this play, in this place, at this time, and leave the workshop equipped to see any production with a more discerning eye.
Wednesday, February 12
4:00pm – 5:00pm: FREE WORKSHOP – Alexander Technique with Karen Braga (Acting Faculty, NYU Tisch)
5:00pm – 6:00pm: FREE WORKSHOP – Refining Your Monologue and Audition with Gabra Zackman (Actor, Sense & Sensibility at Bedlam, Audiobook Narrator of over 300 books)
