VIOLET SURPRISE: LEZ BEAUS SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL

Facebook page

You can take the "gal" out of Galentine's Day, but wouldn't you rather take the gal out ON Galentine's Day?

VIOLET SURPRISE: LEZ BEAUS is a short play festival that celebrates lesbian love through the ages.

Whether it's a time-honored tale of girl meets boi, or a pulpy piece about women in the shadows who whisper their love, we're seeking character-driven romances that explore connection and affection, emotion and devotion.

For the purposes of this play festival, Sapphrodite is the goddess of love.

Other than that, we're open to anything: firsts, lasts, in-betweens; fix-ups, mix-ups, break-ups, make-ups; gal pals, lady friends, lover girls; historical romance, contemporary romance, romantic comedy.

So put your heart in the "write" place and submit to VIOLET SURPRISE: LEZ BEAUS, curated and produced by Iris Sowlat and Allison Fradkin and presented February 14-16, 2020, at The Martin in Chicago.

Guidelines

Submissions are open to playwrights who identify as female, trans, or non-binary.

Plays can be up to 10 pages and include up to 4 characters.

Playwrights may submit 2 scripts for consideration.

Send your scripts in PDF format to allisonfradkin@aol.com with "Violet Surprise" in the subject line. Questions may also be directed to that address.

The deadline for submissions is December 20, 2019.

Playwrights will be notified of our selections by January 1.
