UPDATE!!! SOOP to NUTS Short-Play Festival moved to FEBRUARY!
We have received many submissions for our festival, but a number of you expressed concerns about the short turn-around time. We agree and have decided that in order to ensure our first festival is a successful one, we will move it out to February. The new dates are February 14th - 29th! We will hold ALL of our current submissions for consideration for a spot in the new schedule - if you have already submitted and DO NOT wish to have your play considered for the new time-line, please email info@sooptheatre.org and let us know! See below for the updated details:

If chosen, you will be responsible for all staffing (casting, director, etc) of your piece. SOOP can recommend actors/directors, if need be. You are also responsible for all rehearsal – SOOP will provide each play selected some free rehearsal time in our studio space (schedule TBD), as well as a tech opportunity in the final week.
SOOP can provide small set pieces (chairs, tables, small loveseat, etc) as well as some more detailed props. A list will be made available to all participants. That said, we do ask that you keep ALL these requirements to a MINIMUM.

2. Each of those selections will receive two performances during the first weekend (Feb 14 - 16) OR the second weekend (Feb 21 - 23).
3. Each evening’s audience will vote anonymously and the cumulative vote from both performances of each piece will determine our *5 finalists. (*Highest amount of votes from each set of five will determine the first four finalists, then the next highest vote recipient from ALL the evenings will be the fifth finalist).
4. The five finalists will perform on the final night of the festival (Feb 29th) and will be judged by a panel of theatre professionals comprised of playwrights, actors, directors (TBA).
