The Craft of the Adaptation: Adapting Materials for Screenplays

This class is for writers wishing to adapt source material of any form (play, novel, tv show, web series...the sky's the limit!) into a screenplay, focusing on adapting specifically with the camera in mind. You will discuss each person's adaptation, as well as the rights to the original source material, and what one can gain from doing an adaptation. Richard will be hands-on in class, talking to you about your project as if he were directing it, and asking the same questions a director would if they were going to film your adaptation. By the end of ten weeks, you should have a first draft of your screenplay.

Instructor: Richard Vetere (Writer, screen adaptations include The Third Miracle, produced by Francis Ford Coppola, starring Ed Harris and Anne Heche, and The Marriage Fool starring Walter Matthau and Carol Burnett)
Thursdays from 6:30pm – 9:30pm
Starts March 2
