Applications for the 2021-2022 R&D Group are now open and will be accepted through July 6, 2021.
The Civilians’ R&D Group is a lab for writers, composers, directors, and other generative artists, working on investigative theater projects. The research and development creative process may include research, interviews, and other experimental methods of inquiry.
The group meets about 12 times over one season to discuss process and share work as it develops. Giving and receiving feedback at meetings is an essential part of the program, therefore regular attendance is critical and should be considered when applying.
Each R&D Group member will receive an honorarium. At the end of the season, each project will be given a brief rehearsal process with actors and a work-in-progress open rehearsal style presentation in the FINDINGS Series.
