Seeking original monologues (Between 2 and 5 minutes), from playwrights from across the globe that have not been produced in the Chicago area yet. This year’s festival is monologue driven and we are holding a “Cocktails & Monologues” night.
Only 12 entries will be selected. The winning entries will be produced by Paradox Theatre providing a venue, audience and actors to perform your monologue live at our “Cocktails & Monologues” New Works Festival Showcase. The production will be in front of a live audience and recorded. It will subsequently be posted to YouTube under our account, and a video of your individual piece can be sent to you if requested.
The length of the performance piece should be between 2-5 minutes. Seeking Original monologues and original spoken word pieces. There is No submission fee.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
• Monologues must be original.
• Monologues should stay between 2 and 5 minutes.
• Monologues that copy the exact plotline of existing movies, TV series, and books will not be considered.
• No more than five submissions allowed per playwright.
• Cover sheet of monologue should have title, author’s name, mobile number, e-mail that is checked regularly, and a bio of up to 50 words.
• First page should provide name of character and brief description of personality.
• We reserve the right to cast monologues with the best actor for the work. Actors portraying characters may not be able to match every physical look, attribute or identity.
• Monologues must be typed, pages numbered, and double-spaced in PDF format.
