OC-Centric Orange County's New Play Festival 2019

web site

Are you a playwright? Do you live in or hail from Orange County, CA? Monday, December 17 is the deadline to submit scripts for the 2019 OC-centric New Play Festival!

The ninth annual OC-centric New Play Festival is scheduled for August 15-25, 2019 at Chapman University in Orange, CA. As in past years, we are looking for both full-length and one-act plays; we will likely produce 1 full-length and 2-3 one-acts next summer, with each play receiving 6 performances during the festival.

We fully produce new works, rather than just presenting staged readings. You are welcome to submit previously produced work that is new to Orange County, CA. Finalists will be announced in early 2019; the 3-4 plays selected for the festival will be announced shortly thereafter.

Script submission details:
* Submit scripts via email to occentric@gmail.com (either PDF or Microsoft Word format). In your email message, let us know a little about your connection to Orange County, CA. (The criteria for eligibility: you must either have grown up in Orange County, or you currently live in OC at least 6 months out of the year.)
* Submissions accepted through December 17. Submissions after December 17 will not be considered.
* No submission fee.
* Playwrights will receive a small honorarium/royalty.
* No restrictions on language or subject matter, but no nudity.
* Sorry, no musicals.
* Plays should have casts of 12 or less and be producible in a black box theatre space with playing area approximately 20' x 25'.
* Playwrights may submit 1 full-length play and/or 1 one-act play.
> Our definition of full-lengths = plays that run 60 minutes or longer.
> Our definition of one-acts = plays that run 15-60 minutes. (One-acts running between 30-60 minutes are especially welcome.)
* The playwright’s name and contact information must appear on the title page of the script(s).
