NYCPlaywrights would like to thank the playwrights who have given us a heads-up recently about theater organizations' calls for submissions that do not meet our criteria. Those items have been removed from our web site.Although NYCPlaywrights makes every effort to ensure that information we post meets our standards sometimes unsuitable items get through.
It's unfortunate that some theater organizations have poorly designed and poorly maintained web sites. Their organizational dysfunction (we don't like to think it's deliberate bait and switch) sometimes means they charge submission fees which they do not mention right up front on their web site. This leads to grief for all.
We thank you for your patience and for letting us know when something is wrong. Let's keep working together to get the best opportunities, free of submission fees, out to hard-working playwrights.
