Fresh Binder Productions has opened submissions for their Spring 2025 Writer’s Cohort!
During the Spring Writer's Cohort, we hope to provide a safe space for transgender and gender nonconforming playwrights in NYC to workshop new full-length works. Whether you're workshopping a previously produced work or starting from square one, we want to support and help you build your story.
Every Monday night from 6pm - 9pm, lasting from April 15th to June 17th, selected writers will meet in person in Manhattan or Brooklyn and will be given the opportunity to workshop their pieces and support their fellow cohort members' works.
This can mean your new pages being read allowed by fellow writers, brainstorming sessions from previous pages, or any other way we would best assist you in the writing process.
There is no fee to apply.
We are only looking for playwrights who identify as transgender/non-binary/gender non-conforming and are based in NYC/are able to commute to NYC on a weekly basis for meetings.
Writers will be selected and notified in early April. More information can be found on freshbinderproductions.com. Please email freshbinderproductions@gmail.com for any questions or concerns.

Fresh Binder Productions is a theatrical home for emerging transgender/non-binary/gender non-conforming (TGNC) playwrights. Founded by Bailey Jordan Garcia and Roni Ragone in January 2024, Fresh Binder aims to support marginalized artists within the theatrical community while producing new, thought provoking work. In addition to our goal of uplifting more TGNC artists and work into the theatrical pantheon, building and creating community for these early career TGNC artists has become a high priority. Fresh Binder offers two writers’ cohorts every year in which playwrights are able to workshop and create pieces fully amongst other TGNC artists. Outside of cohorts, Fresh Binder produces workshops and staged readings of works in development—fostering growth among the community. Ultimately, Fresh Binder wants to spotlight TGNC playwrights rather than specifically TGNC storylines, changing the narrative on what TGNC writers are “supposed” to write about.
