Elmwood Playhouse will be hosting a One Act Weekend on July 26th, 27th, and 28th 2024! The goal is to showcase the amazing talent of local playwrights.
Local means within 50 miles of Nyack New York. This includes New York City.
If you are one of these people, we invite you to submit your show for consideration! Please note, this is not a competition.
Here are the guidelines for submission:
Time Frame – Submissions will be accepted from February 1st through February 29th 2024. Selections will be chosen no later than April 30th. If your show is selected, you will be notified by this date.
Number of allowed submissions – A playwright may not submit more than (3) three plays for consideration
Topic – Any topic you choose! We are looking for a mix of genres. Nothing is off the table.
Length – Up to 45 minutes in length.
Production – If your submission is chosen to be presented, you must provide the actors, director, props, and costumes. We will provide the stage manager, and some furniture (couch, chairs).
Rehearsal – Most of the rehearsals will be on your own. We will provide one to two rehearsals in our studios and one rehearsal on our stage.
Presentation – All shows selected will be presented on all three dates (July 26th, 27th, and 28th 2024). The Friday and Saturday night shows will begin at 8pm. The Sunday show will begin at 2pm. The number of shows selected for the weekend and the order in which they are presented will be determined by Elmwood. If your cast cannot be present at all three shows we will not be able to select your submission
