Onstage/Offstage seeks 10-minute plays for its podcast

Website

Deadline: February 13, 2022

Onstage/Offstage (www.onstageoffstage.org) is looking for (4) 10-12 minute plays to produce and air on its podcast. The theme for 2022 is "Pets." The play must stand on its own as a fully dramatic issue between its characters and feature PETS as a critical plot element and/or character.

We will consider all plays equally based on their merit, but we especially encourage writers who identify as female or BIPOC to submit.

Comedies as well as dramas welcome!

Selected plays will be broadcast on WRFI 88.1 Ithaca Community Radio and podcasted on our web site (www.onstageoffstage.org), iTunes and Spotify.

- Submissions will air/be available as podcast on a date TBD in 2022.

- Submissions are welcome by email ONLY from 12:01AM MONDAY, JANUARY 24 to 11:59 pm SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 13. Send submissions to sapiogeorge@gmail.com.

The message header must read as follows: OSOS PETS / YOURLASTNAME / PLAY TITLE.

Selected plays will be cast, rehearsed, and recorded solely by Onstage/Offstage personnel.
Playwrights will be required to do a short interview to accompany their play.

Please make sure your play is suitable for a reading:

- Do not submit plays that require extensive reading of stage directions; if the play is not nearly all dialogue, do not submit;

- THREE CHARACTERS MAXIMUM. No monologues.

- Minimal language inappropriate for radio. Not that we are against strong language in a work, but I have to bleep it for broadcast. I leave it au naturel for the podcast;

- Plays MUST BE IN PDF FORM with casting info, pertinent notes, and playwright contact on cover page, and pages numbered. (You'd be surprised. No, really, you would.)

- Please title your PDF documents in the following form: OSOS PETS YOURLASTNAME PLAY TITLE.PDF

- ONE submission per author.

-By submitting, you agree to let Onstage/Offstage produce, air, and podcast your work. You retain all rights to your work.

- We cannot afford to pay you. We do regret this, as artists should be reimbursed for their craft. But we are a shoestring operation without any funding whatsoever. We hope that the podcast with your interview and produced work will suffice.
