Irvington Theater Arts Incubator Short Playfest

Website

Deadline: January 31, 2022 11:59 PM EST

After a tremendous inaugural festival in 2021, we are thrilled to once again accept script submissions for the Arts Incubator Short Play Fest, which will debut and stream for free on YouTube from February 25 - March 5, 2022.

Celebrating short, new, and in-development works of theater, the virtual festival is an opportunity for playwrights to experiment with the medium — and a platform to share their work with a wider audience.

Plays should be unpublished and no more than 15 pages in length.

Playwrights should only submit one script.

Playwrights are responsible for assembling the cast and creative team as needed; this is an unpaid, non-union opportunity.

Festival participants will be announced by February 7, 2022. If selected, playwrights (and their teams) will be asked to deliver a recorded video of their play by February 20, 2022. This could be as simple as a screen recording of a Zoom call, but we encourage you to embrace the video format in an interesting and deliberate way. This video file must be in the MP4 format, with an HD resolution:1280x720 (720p, 16:9 aspect ratio) or 1920x1080 (1080p, 16x9 aspect ratio).

Your video will stream for free on YouTube with other festival selections from February 25 through March 5, 2022 — or for as long as you’d like! Festival selections will be promoted across Irvington Theater social media and widely circulated emails, our website, and in-person signage throughout the village of Irvington, NY.

To submit, email a PDF of your play to ITArtsIncubator@yahoo.com with the subject “Short Play Fest Submission: [Name of Play] by [Name of Playwright].” Please tell us about yourself and the vision for your virtual production, including the names of your cast and creative team (or a plan of intent to secure them). If you have a headshot, resume, bio, and/or website link to include, please do.
