web site

Deadline: April 6, 2021

Stay True, an LGBTQ+ Theatre Company a small theatre company based in New York City seeks submissions for our first annual Bloom: A Collection Of New Queer Voices, In memory of Timothy Conigrave. The workshop will take place virtually over two weeks from May 31 - June 13, 2021.

Playwrights will be paired with a director prior to the start of the workshop and will be asked to specify which type of presentational form would most aid them in moving to the next stage of development (i.e. reading, staged reading, workshop production, etc.). If requested, playwrights will be provided with access to the company dramaturg. The two weeks will consist of rehearsals with actors, meetings with the director & Stay True Artistic Directors. This will culminate in a ticketed presentation on a virtual platform. A panel of industry members will attend a rehearsal in week one as well as the final presentation to engage in a feedback-based discussion with the playwright. All rehearsals, meetings and performances will be remote. Of the plays selected for the workshop, the piece that is closest to its final stage of development will be given a fully-staged production as part of our 2022-23 Season.
