Dear Dad — An Exploration of Fatherhood

Submission call

for Florida playwrights and BIPOC playwrights Nationwide

Fantasy Theatre Factory in Miami, Florida, wants to celebrate all the facets of Fatherhood. We are holding a call for Florida playwrights and BIPOC playwrights nationally to submit monologues that reflect their personal experience with a father figure in their life. We encourage playwrights representing diverse ethnicities to apply.

These monologues will be presented by Fantasy Theatre Factory in Miami, FL on the weekend of June 19-20, 2021 and will run on YouTube for a month. An honorarium will be paid to those playwrights whose scripts are selected. This event is being co-produced by Marj O’Neill-Butler, Dramatists Guild Florida Regional Representative, and Arianna Rose, South Florida DG Ambassador.

Suggested Subject Matter To Get You Started on Your Monologue:

-All things fatherhood

-What it means to be a father, to have a father, to lose a father, to grow up fatherless

-non-traditional father figures

-qualities of a father

Submission Guidelines:

-Submissions accepted from Florida playwrights and BIPOC playwrights nationwide.

-One monologue per writer maximum.

-The monologue may be part of a larger work or a stand-alone piece.

-Deadline for submissions is Sunday, April 4, 2021 midnight EST.

-Monologue should be no longer than 2 pages.

-Preferred format is PDF.

-On the cover page, indicate name, address, phone and email address.
