Deadline: March 14, 2021
ONLINE SUBMISSION FORM
OnyxFest 2021 provides a platform through which to shape the narrative of Black life and culture from the minds of those who know it best. If you or someone you know has an original, never produced concept, scripts are being accepted. Entries must be original one-act plays – between 45 minutes and an hour in length. There may be no more than five characters per cast.
Topics need not deal exclusively with social issues. In addition to drama, organizers welcome comedy, musicals, mysteries, romance, spoken word, dance-centric performances, gospel themes, and satire.
Subject matter is unrestricted, although it is recommended that writers avoid stereotypes, degrading or disrespectful portrayals of Black life and culture, and gratuitous violence or sexual content. Scripts will be accepted for consideration through midnight Sunday, March 14, 2021
