Young people 19 years and under are invited to submit 10-minute dramatic scripts that explore themes of human rights, social justice and the beauty that arises from empathy. The winning scripts will receive a reading by theater professionals in IHRAF’s Our Rising Voices virtual play festival. Deadline: March 22, 2021 11:59 EST.
Submission guidelines
- Young playwrights 19 years and younger are eligible to submit.
- Scripts must explore themes of human rights and social justice, and must align with IHRAF’s core values of beauty, sincerity, vulnerability, celebrating diversity and engagement.
- Plays must be approximately 10 minutes when read aloud. Scripts may be 8 or 9 pages, but no more than 10 (not including the title page and characters list).
- Collaborative works between multiple (up to 3) young writers are accepted, as long as all writers fall within the eligible age range.
- All scripts must be original work. Adaptations will not be accepted.
- Writers may submit up to 2 scripts for consideration.
- Plays must have no more than 4 characters.
- Scripts must be primarily in English. Any lines not in English should include a translation.
- Scripts must be unpublished and unproduced at the time of submission.
