Produced once every two-years, ReOrient Festival showcases the diversity of voices and aesthetics from the Middle East and its worldwide diaspora in a curated festival of short plays produced biennially in San Francisco. The submission deadline for consideration in ReOrient Festival 2023 is July 30, 2022.
Eligibility:
• Plays by playwrights of Middle Eastern heritage on any topic
• Plays about the Middle East by playwrights of any cultural heritage
• Plays must be in English
Submission Guidelines:
• Complete the ReOrient Festival of Short Plays Submission Form.
• Upload a pdf of your play to the Play Submission Form.
• Length: 10-30 minutes. One submission only per playwright
Areas of interest include:
• Comedies: political satire, romantic comedies
• Plays that experiment with non-realistic forms, non-linear or physically-based storytelling
• Plays that explore aspects of immigrant or family life
• Adaptations of classical texts and or historical figures
• Exploration of Middle Eastern performance traditions
