Night Picnic submission guidelines

Website

Deadline: none listed

Submit via Submittable

Night Picnic is a journal of literature and art which publishes novels, novellas, plays, short and flash stories, fairytales for adults, poetry, interviews, essays (including popular science essays), letters to the editors, and artwork.

We encourage authors to submit all that is strange, dark, jubilant, complex, confusing, scary, mystical, and multidimensional.

We do NOT publish memoirs, heavy science fiction, political essays, and pornography. We do NOT publish manuscripts with chauvinistic and fascistic tendencies.

You must be 18 or over to submit.

The size of the manuscript does not matter; we do not have a limit by word count. Large novels will be published in separate issues of the magazine. We do not consider unfinished work.

All submissions must be in English and previously unpublished. Translations are permissible but should be accompanied by a copy of the original text. Simultaneous submissions are fine, just notify us immediately if the manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere. Reprints by invitation only.

By submitting to Night Picnic Journal, you confirm that the work is your own and was not previously published.

Our publishing agreement is non-exclusive; this means the copyright will remain the author’s property. Once the author has been published by Night Picnic, the author is free to use the work elsewhere, but we ask that Night Picnic be cited as the first publication.

We suggest to all who submit that they read the most recent issues of Night Picnic Journal to acquaint themselves with material the magazine has published. Copies of the magazine can be acquired through Amazon.com.
