Every 2nd Monday of the month Blackboard gives one playwright, who is of African descent or part of the African Diaspora, a chance to have their entire work read and discussed. This is an exciting way for everyone to get to know each other and hear Works-in-Progress. Think of it as an "open mic" for Playwrights where actors in the audience will be apart of cold reads of excerpts selected by the playwright. Playwrights must provide their own copies of the pages they wish to have read.
- Playwright must be a Black playwright, meaning someone who is of African descent or part of the African Diaspora.
- Plays must be new and un-produced (other staged readings are eligible).
- Both One Act and Full Length Plays AT LEAST 45 minutes in length will be accepted.
- A detailed synopsis of your submission, no longer than a page and no less than two paragraphs must be sent.
- Include your name and the title of your submission in the subject line of your email (eg. Garlia Jones - BLACKBOARD PLAYS).
- Send all submissions to: info@blackboardplays.com
