2023 St. John's Short Play Festival

SUBMISSION FORM

St. John's Shorts welcomes submissions from artists and groups (production companies or other artist groups) for the 2023 St. John's Short Play Festival. Please submit your short performance piece (30 minutes or less) by April 28th, 2023. Experimental ideas and works in progress are also welcomed and encouraged.*

The festival will run from September 6th-16th, 2023 at the LSPU Hall in St. John's, NL. 

Each participating artist/group is responsible for producing their own piece and promoting the festival as a whole. Volunteer opportunities will be available at the orientation meeting in June for accepted artists/groups. St. John’s Shorts will provide each participating production: the venue, two performances (minimum), a tech rehearsal, box office management, a Festival Coordinator & Technical Director, professional development workshops, marketing support, the festival budget, and final financial reports. 

St. John's Shorts has a zero-tolerance policy for any and all hateful or oppressive content. St. John's Shorts reserves the right to remove any production(s) at ANY time during the submission/selection process and active festival period in conflict with this policy at the discretion of the Board. 

If selected, the following items are due on May 20th, 2023:

1) A copy of your detailed synopsis/plan for your production, along with content and trigger warnings.

2) Proof of performing rights for published works (if applicable).

3) A $200 registration fee.

Successful applicants will be chosen via a lottery system. (5 shows will be curated this season).
