NYCPlaywrights seeks monologues and 10-minute plays.
DEADLINE IS SUNDAY DECEMBER 1 at 11:59 PM.
The theme is "Resisting Fascism."
When Trump was elected in 2016, excuses were made for Trump voters: "they didn't really understand how bad he was" and "they had concerns about the economy."
NYCPlaywrights responded by seeking monologues and 10-minute plays on the theme of Women in the Age of Trump.
But in 2024 anybody who voted for Trump knew who he was - a rapist. A felon. A racist who uses the same "blood and soil" rhetoric as Hitler. A racist who tried to get legal Haitian immigrants killed by lying about them. His VP pick, J. D. Vance, admitted it was a lie.
Trump voters voted for a traitor who tried to overthrow American democracy on January 6, 2021.
So this time NYCPlaywrights is looking for scripts about resisting fascism, whether resisting Trump directly or resisting fascist organizations or pro-fascist friends and family.
We encourage scripts from first-time playwrights as well as experienced writers, from anywhere in the world.
SEMI-FINALIST SCRIPTS
NYCPlaywrights will select as many of the scripts that we like and which meet the submission guidelines to be semi-finalists.
The semi-finalists will be listed on this blog and an excerpt from each script (if permission is granted by the playwright) will be displayed in a blog post, one per day, along with any website links or other contact information the author wishes to share.
