SUBMISSION FORM

Deadline: January 16, 2024

PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE A ROLLING SUBMISSION POLICY WHICH MEANS WE PICK PLAYS AS THEY ARE SUBMITTED SO WAITING UNTIL THE DEADLINE IS NOT ADVISED.

The Queens Short Play Festival is now accepting plays for its 2024 Festival. The Secret Theatre seeks to promote new work and emerging playwrights through our annual One Act Festivals.

No fee to submit or produce.

• $250 Cash Prize for Best Play
• $100 Cash Prize for Best Director
• $75 Cash Prize for Best Actor
• $75 Cash Prize for Best Actress
• Each Play is guaranteed multiple performances [the exact number is decided once our final selection is made. Factors include the length of plays but is not usually less than 4 performance.

Guidelines:

· You provide your own director and actors. We produce the festival, you produce your work. (We may be able to help you if you do not have a director but preference will be given to playwrights who can provide their own directors and actors.)

· Plays must be between 10 – 20 minutes in length. Preference given to plays that have not been produced before. Timings must be accurate please overestimate if not sure. We will reject any play longer than 20 mins. If your play is over 24 pages long and you have used typical fonts and sizes ie 12 pt courier or times then it may be too long.

• Easy to produce. (If you have a play which for instance includes a swimming pool, a large amount of sets and props, or anything else too elaborate or is impossible to cast we may reject it.)
• Please submit plays in PDF or Word format only.

• We will divide selected plays into more programs, and selected Playwrights will be informed on a rolling basis.

· We can only have a 2x 20 minute plays per program so 7, 10, 15 minute plays have a higher chance of being chosen

· You may apply as many times as you like but if we choose multiple plays then they are likely to be on different nights and we ask that each play has a unique cast [ie: if you have three plays they cannot have all the same cast members although one might be ok]
