The Title Wave at Bay Street 9th Annual New Works Festival

Deadline: November 15, 2022 at 11:59 PM

Or when 300 submissions are received

Bay Street is currently accepting new full-length plays and musicals for the New Works Festival, taking place May 5–7, 2023.

Bay Street is looking for plays that represent a broad array of voices, viewpoints, cultures, and styles. Writers of all backgrounds are strongly encouraged to submit. New Works is looking for pieces that have had rewrites and are already in development, perhaps currently in their third or fourth draft. Plays should be at a stage where the addition of in-person creatives can be used to their full value.

Bay Street is pleased to offer an opportunity to work in-person with directors and actors on your play. Selected plays will be provided with dramaturgical notes from Bay Street artistic leadership, rehearsal time in New York, and a public presentation on the Bay Street stage in Sag Harbor, followed by an audience feedback session.

Bay Street is not able to offer transportation to or housing in NYC at this time, though we will transport participants from NYC to Sag Harbor for the day of presentations.

Submissions are now open through November 15, or when 300 submissions are received, whichever comes first.

Use the submission link above. All you will need is a PDF of your completed script. Instructions will be included in the submission form.

Ensure that your complete script is formatted clearly, including page numbers, a cast breakdown, and your contact information all in one PDF. Plays with smaller casts are particularly encouraged this year.

Name your file in the Format LastName_Title.pdf. For example, Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu's "Pass Over" would label the file as Nwandu_PassOver.pdf. Files that are misnamed or do not arrive with a submission form filled out will be deleted.

If you are submitting a musical, include demos for 3 of your strongest songs with your email. Name the files as Title_SongName.mp3 (or other format).
