The Dramatic Question Theatre is seeking submissions to their new free of charge play development programs

The Dramatic Question Theatre is seeking submissions to their new free of charge play development programs.
  • American Woman is how DQT develops and presents solo shows by Women and Women Identifying writers. 
    • American Woman (AW) is an online solo show development/ public engagement program, for solo shows-in-progress, that are by Women-identifying writers living in the United States. 
    • We use an instructor-led curated classroom format to advance each matriculant’s vision of their solo show.
    • Since public engagement is an equally important component of both the AW experience and the DQT mission, there is an online presentation showcasing excerpts of the participating pieces.
    • To be eligible for selection, you must identify as a Woman, have an early draft of a solo piece, and submit the required materials by deadline.
    • Up to 12 matriculants will be selected based on early drafts of their solo pieces, interviews, and other submission materials (i.e., resumes, etc.).
    • American Woman will be held via Zoom, from 12pm-2pm (EST), each Saturday between October 29 – December 17. DQT is proud to announce this season's American Woman instructor is Raquel Almazan.

  • Classics in Color is how DQT develops plays by BIPoC writers that blend the global classics with the BIPoC lived experience. 
    • Classics in Color (CIC) is an online new play development/ public engagement program for plays-in-progress, that are by BIPoC writers, and blend the BIPoC lived-experience with the global classics
    • We use an instructor-led curated classroom format with the goal of working constructively toward advancing each matriculant’s vision for their play. 
    • Since public engagement is an equally important component of both the CiC experience and the DQT mission, there is an online presentation showcasing excerpts of the participating plays.
    • To be eligible for selection, you must identify as BIPoC, have an early draft of a play that fits the description above, and submit the required materials by deadline. 
    • Up to 12 matriculants will be selected based on early drafts of their plays, interviews, and other submission materials (i.e., resumes, etc.)
    • Classics in Color will be held via Zoom, from 7-9:30pm (EST), each Monday between October 24 – December 12. DQT is proud to announce this season's Classic in Color instructor is Desi Moreno-Penson.

  • PlayTime is how DQT develops plays by Women, Women Identifying, and BIPoC writers
    • PlayTime (PT) is an online new play development program, for plays-in-progress, that are written by Women and BIPoC. 
    • We use an instructor-led curated classroom with the goal of working constructively toward advancing each matriculant’s vision for their play. 
    • Since public engagement is an equally important component of both the PT experience and the DQT mission, there is an online presentation showcasing excerpts of the participating plays.
    • To be eligible for selection, you must identify as either a Woman or BIPoC, have an early draft of a play, and submit the required materials by deadline. 
    • Up to 12 matriculants will be selected based on early drafts of their plays, interviews, and other submission materials (i.e., resumes, etc.)
    • PlayTime will be held via Zoom, from 7-9:30pm (EST), each Tuesday between October 25 – December 13. DQT is proud to announce this season's PlayTime instructor is Carmen Rivera Tirado.
