web site

Deadline: April 16, 2020

Learn about Zoom videoconferencing here

Now accepting plays, scenes, and monologues that are written with the context of the scene being a Zoom (or Skype) call. Plays can be two character, or more. Context is key -- there must to be a realistic need for this to be a Zoom call: teenagers talking late at night, a couple separated by borders, classmates trying to Zoom for a class project, lovers making plans to elope, etc.

This effort is sponsored by Project Y Theatre Company, NYC. All submitted plays will be considered for professional production with Project Y in NYC. In addition, the Project Y Co-Artistic directors are theater professors at Carnegie Mellon University and Middlebury College, respectively, and are in search of material to use with their classes.

These new works will also be gathered, organized, and through Google Drive made available for anyone, nationally or internationally, who seeks to use this for educational reasons: teachers, theatre companies, coaches, community organizations, academic institutions, etc. Given the national demand for material like this for use in educational settings, having younger characters might be beneficial, but certainly not required. A diverse range of characters is preferred. You may submit as many times as you like, but please make each a new submission.

All submissions will be eligible for professional production with Project Y Theatre Company NYC.
We are in the midst of an unprecedented temporary departure from the traditions of theatre as we know it, so let's make some new work for this new world.
