Identity Theater Co is seeking New Plays for its Reading Series: Self-Deception: Plays about political abuse and abusive relationships. Plays can be any length, any genre.
There is ABSOLUTELY NO SUBMISSION FEE. (If you're play is selected, there is a $40 participation fee) Playwrights receive 30% of the ticket sales for their show.
Plays should reflect the theme of the series as well as the mission of the company: inclusiveness and accessibility. Plays must be submitted by July 1st.
Selected playwrights will be notified by July 15th. The series runs the 4 Sundays in August from 7-10 pm. Playwrights are responsible for casting. directing, and publicity. Identity Theater will provide as much support as it can to each playwright. But the playwright bears the ultimate responsibility for getting their show ready for the series. Plays will be read at El Barrio Artspace 215 E 99th St. Playwrights MUST be in attendance for the ENTIRE evening that their work is read. Community is very important at Identity, that's why we require you to stay for all the other plays in your evening, not just your work. We are ESPECIALLY interested in hearing from Playwrights' with Disabilities, but EVERYONE is welcome to submit.
