Do your play a favor: learn how to make the most of every development opportunity in this brand new workshop at Primary Stages ESPA.
Navigating New Play Development with Adam Kraar (Writer, New World Rhapsody at MTC, Wild Terrain at EST)
“Play development” has become an integral part of moving a play from the page to production. Workshopping your play can be a golden opportunity for advancing your script – but it can also involve complex challenges. This workshop will give you tools for navigating the landscape of new play development. You will learn strategies for setting workshop goals, tips for communicating about your play with collaborators and decision-makers, and the secrets of having a successful play reading. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be ready to determine the opportunities for development that are best for your play, when it is time for your play to move beyond development, and how to propel it to production.
Your class will be visited by a director and a dramaturg with extensive new play experience.
Participants are expected to attend all three sessions, allowing the group to become a cohort of colleagues who may support each other beyond the workshop.
