Two actors, ALLISON and REBECCA, are sharing an apartment in New York City. ALLISON is a stunning young Julliard graduate, well on her way to a career, and REBECCA is the older and the more plain of the two, but is a firestorm of emotion and a much better actor. But beauty trumps talent as ALLISON signs with one of the best agents in the city and the auditions come pouring in while REBECCA, at age 40, breaks her back with a catering company five days a week and can’t get arrested. She is also bipolar and her moods swings quite often. Jealousy builds as ALLISON books a major part in a new film and REBECCA pretends to be happy for her. REBECCA stops taking her medication and turns into a monster at the climax of the play, where all her insecurities flood from suppression into reality. This is a play about a person who suffers constant soul crushing defeat, experiencing the relentless desperation of finding success. How much can she take?
