The Roustabouts Theatre Co. is now accepting play submissions for our 2024 Celebration of New Writers Festival.
This year’s theme is Personal Identifiers as it pertains to race/culture, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, religious connections, etc…
To submit your play for consideration, please fill out the form online. Please include your contact information, a short bio (one paragraph), and a copy of your ten-minute play uploaded as a single PDF attachment.

- Plays should be original works and not previously produced or published.
- We are only accepting ten minute plays this year, meaning between 8-12 pages in length.
- A maximum of three (3) characters.
- Playwrights from previous festivals may submit.
- No musicals or TYA pieces are accepted at this time
- Plays must be properly formatted in Playwriting Format
- If selected, plays will be presented as a staged reading in San Diego on May 27, 2024.
- Plays will be evaluated and selected by The Roustabouts Artistic Team.
- Plays will go through a selection period with the announcements given in late April. Approximately 7-10 plays will be chosen for the Festival.
- Playwrights are welcome to be available during the rehearsal process, if desired.
- All play submissions remain the intellectual property of the playwright. The Roustabouts Theatre, Co may have any rights to future productions of the selected plays if these plays are world premieres.
