Irvington Theater 4th Annual Arts Incubator Short Play Fest

Website

Deadline: January 23, 2024 at 11:59pm EST.

For the 4th consecutive year, we are thrilled to accept script submissions for the Arts Incubator Short Play Fest, which will once again exist in a hybrid format of online events and in-person readings in and around Irvington, NY, all taking place between March 10-16, 2024.

Submission Guidelines:

Plays should be unpublished, unproduced, and no more than 20 pages in length. Playwrights should only submit one script.

All playwrights are responsible for assembling their casts and creative teams; this is an unpaid, non-union opportunity.

Playwrights should articulate whether they want to be considered for the virtual portion of the festival, the in-person readings in Irvington, New York, or both. To be considered for the in-person readings, you and your cast/team must be local, or able to travel, to Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, NY for an in-person festival presentation on Saturday, March 10, 2024.

Festival participants will be notified on or before February 11, 2024. All festival selections will be promoted across Irvington Theater social media and widely circulated emails, our website, and in-person signage throughout the Rivertowns, NY.

If selected for the virtual portion of the festival, playwrights (and their teams) will be asked to deliver a video file of their piece no later than March 3, 2024. This video file must be in the MP4 format, with an HD resolution: 1920x1080 (1080p, 16x9 aspect ratio). Your video will stream for free on YouTube with other festival selections for a one-week, limited release from March 10-16, 2024.

If selected for the in-person portion of the festival, you and your cast will be scheduled for a staged reading (music stands provided) of your play on March 10, 2023, alongside other festival selections, at Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, NY (a 45-minute commute from NYC via Metro-North Railroad); you and your team are responsible for any preparation and rehearsals you deem necessary ahead of the in-person reading.
Submission Materials:

Briefly tell us a bit about who you are as an artist. (150 words or less)

Briefly describe the play you are submitting. (150 words or less)

Tell us if you want to be considered for the virtual portion of the festival, the in-person readings in Dobbs Ferry, NY (see submission guidelines), or both. Please also tell us how you see this festival benefiting your play in its current phase. (250 words or less).

If submitting for the virtual portion of the festival, tell us your vision for deliberately embracing the video format. We encourage you to be as creative as possible!

Please tell us the names of your cast and creative team, or a clear plan of intent to secure them. (We’ll collect headshots and bios from them later!)

Do you have a connection to Irvington Theater or the Rivertowns? If not, please tell us where you are from/based and how you heard about our festival!

Please include a headshot and bio (150 words or less), and if you have a website, share that link as well!
How to Submit:

To submit, email all submission materials and a PDF of your play to ITArtsIncubator@yahoo.com with the subject SPF 2024 Submission: “Name of Play” by Name of Playwright by January 23, 2024 at 11:59pm EST. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
