All previous ECC playwrights-in-residence got their start with us by applying to our Writer’s Lab. There is no better way to get involved with ECC if you are a playwright!
The ECC Writer’s Lab will meet every Wednesday from May 4th – June 22nd from 6pm to 9pm at the Culture Lab LIC gallery. The goal of the Lab is for each participant to generate a new one act play using ECC's unique literary devising process.
This process is led by Literary Directors Phillip Christian Smith and Blake Bishton and incorporates Culture Lab LIC’s current fine arts exhibitions. This process guides the writing and encourages participants to create work in ways they may not have on their own.
These plays, upon completion, will be presented as a part of ECC's Drinks & Drama reading series in July.
Participation is open to six writers who each receive a travel stipend of $150. ECC encourages all to apply and will not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, color, citizenship status, sex, gender and gender expression, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, disability status, or any other applicable characteristics protected by law.
Culture Lab LIC is handicap accessible. All are welcome to apply regardless of previous writing experience.
