Conch Shell Productions seeks short plays from Caribbean writers

At Conch Shell Productions (CSP), our mission is to infuse new Caribbean-American and Caribbean Diaspora voices into the American theater. To do so, we create a space to develop, workshop and produce new plays.

We believe that art can and should provoke social change. Our productions create an opportunity for diverse audiences to explore and celebrate the unique ethnic/cultural diversity of the 28 multi-lingual Caribbean cultures that have immigrated to other nations seeking new opportunities.

Conch Shell Productions is seeking new one-act plays written by American men and women of Caribbean descent, as well as writers of the Caribbean diaspora.

Eligible playwrights:
American men and women of Caribbean heritage; Caribbean diaspora writers.

Format:
Short plays (10-30 minutes) No excerpts.

Cast size:
Minimum:2 Maximum: 4

Genre:
Comedy (satire, farce, dark, parody, travesty, comedy of ideas, mockumentary, surreal).
We will also consider comedy cross-genres (comedy/Afrofuturism; comedy/drama; tragicomedy, comedy/science fiction, etc).

Format:
Scripts written/adapted for Zoom (please review our existing #bluelightseries recordings avail at www.facebook.com/conchshellprod to gain an understanding of the what Zoom format means.

Language:
English (we will consider scripts with some lines in other languages infused in the text, but they most be primarily English)

Selected plays will be produced and presented live on Facebook and/or Youtube.

No pay.

One submission per playwright.
