About the Program:
Theatre Write Now seeks to support early-career playwrights in New York City by creating a space where writers can generate new theatrical works, building a community of peers through cohort-based collaboration and feedback.
Cohort 3 Details:
THEATRE WRITE NOW IS A GENERATIVE WRITING PROGRAM! You will be pitching a new script concept to the cohort if selected as a participant. Theatre Write Now does not allow previously written work. Cohort Playwrights are NOT allowed to direct or act in their own projects.
Cohort Writing Sessions:
Monday nights, 7 pm-10 pm IN PERSON
Starting on January 26th, ending April 13th
Staged Reading Series:
1 show per week, starting the week of April 20th
Each reading process will rehearse 7-10 pm Monday through Friday of their assigned week, with a 7 pm performance the following Saturday.
Staged readings will be a nonunion, week-long process, each consisting of volunteer performers and production-paired directors, with rehearsals in the evenings, Monday to Friday, and the performance on Saturday. There will be one reading process per week, starting on April 20th, with the last performance being on June 26th. Attending the full rehearsal process is encouraged but not required.
Where:
All cohort meetings, reading rehearsals, and performances will be in Manhattan, New York. This is not a remote/virtual program
