Once again, we are looking for playwrights to share their talents with us for our next short works festival!
This year, we are going to have our festival focus on the theme plays inspired by songs.
Requirements for consideration:
Plays should connect in some way to this year's theme.
Plays must be ten minutes or less -- even one-minute plays are welcomed! Please read your script aloud before submitting, pausing when appropriate for stage action, beats, etc to be certain of its running time.
Plays should have minimal sets/props and easy-to-acquire costuming.
Plays should have no more than 4 characters.
Musicals and monologues will not be accepted...sorry!
Plays can be of any genre or content, but are encouraged to contain diverse character representation.
While play formatting may vary, please adhere to a clean and orderly presentation. This includes spell check, grammar, and other conventions of writing.
Only one submission per playwright, please.
Timeline:
Submissions are open until December 1st, 2022 at 11:59 EST; however, they are read on a rolling basis. Therefore, if enough plays are submitted and accepted before the date of closing, submissions will stop being accepted. (In other words...the early bird catches the worm!)
Finalists will be contacted by no later than April 1st, 2023.
Performances will be held live on stage in Central Massachusetts in summer 2023.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to financially compensate playwrights for their work.
