Summer Writing Classes at Primary Stages ESPA!

Summer 2019 classes at Primary Stages ESPA are now open for enrollment! Here are just some of the classes in our lineup of opportunities in the writing department:

This class will guide you through the development of your first draft, providing concrete deadlines, constructive feedback, and a collaborative environment that will encourage you to get your ideas on the page.
Instructors:
Lisa Ramirez (Writer, To the Bone at Cherry Lane Theatre)
Nikkole Salter (Obie-winning Writer, In the Continuum at Primary Stages and international tour)
Eddie Sanchez (Writer, Barefoot Boy with Shoes On at Primary Stages)
Crystal Skillman (Writer, Geek, Rain and Zoe Save the World)

Instructor: Adam Kraar (Writer, New World Rhapsody at MTC, Wild Terrain at EST)
Developing a strong portfolio of short plays is one of the fastest ways to become a produced or published playwright. Learn how to distill a compelling story into the shortest possible dramatic form and think outside of the box of structure.

Instructor: Melisa Annis (Writer, Director, and Dramaturg; Faculty, NYU Tisch Dramatic Writing Program)
Gain a toolbox of the fundamentals, so your first play (and each play you write after that!) can be built on a strong foundation.

Instructor: Kara Lee Corthron (Writer, "You" on Netflix, AliceGraceAnon at New Georges)
This 2-day workshop is your opportunity to learn the structure and language of television writing so you can work to join the ranks of distinguished playwrights-turned-television writers.

Instructor: Julian Sheppard (Writer, Los Angeles at The Flea Theater (dir. Adam Rapp), Drama Desk-nominated Buicks)
This 2-day writing extravaganza is designed to push you to write an inspired first draft in 48 hours. Sounds crazy, right? But it can be done!

Instructor: Melissa Ross (Writer, Of Good Stock at MTC, Nice Girl at Labyrinth)
Whether you're in the middle of a play, making revisions on a completed draft, or starting something brand new, sometimes it's unavoidable – you just get stuck. In this 2-day workshop, figure out ways to banish writer's block and regain your momentum.

Classes begin in June. Click here for the full list of writing classes.
