What are We Looking For?
Full Length Submissions
The Black Ship Co. is currently seeking plays for our 2013-2014 season. We're based in Chicago, our focus is on new works, and we're primarily looking for plays that have had fewer than 5 productions. You can learn more about us at blackshipco.org
This upcoming season will include fully produced plays, workshops, and a reading series. All plays sent to us will be considered for all three unless you specifically request otherwise.
For this season, we're seeking plays with a touch of the absurd, imaginary, or the magical. We're talking everything from tall tales & urban legends to new myths & folk heroes.
We're also going to be launching a Children's Theater Summer Series, and are seeking plays for that as well. For that, we are searching for 40-60 minute plays that stretch the imagination and contain characters whose struggles inspire adults and children alike to the better parts of humanity. Put simply, "Ad astra per aspera."
