Rules and information:
- The contest is open to anyone, anywhere; plays must be written in English.
- Plays must be unproduced and unpublished, up to and including the contest deadline.
- Please use the standard playwriting format for manuscripts.
- Playwrites may submit as many manuscripts as they like; however, each entry must be in a separate envelope. Please make sure that each manuscript does not contain your name anywhere, but do include your name on a separate piece of paper, along with ful contact information, including an email address. (This is to ensure that judging is blind.) Electronic submissions are not allowed.
- Plays are to be full-length words; a collection of short plays is not an acceptable substitute.
- There are no restrictions on cast size or subject matter.
- The absolute deadline for submissions to be received is June 30, 2011. Winners will be announced on or before September 1, 2011.
- Third prize is $100, and second prize is $300. The first prize winner will receive $500, and the first-prize play will be given a staged reading during the first six months of 2012, on a date to be selected. The playwright is welcome to attend; regrettably, OSU-Newark cannot defray expenses.
- In addition to the prize winners, there will be an indeterminate number of honorable mentions, designated by a certificate.
- Winners will be notified by individual emails; unsuccessful candidates will receive a mass email.
- Following the contest, all manuscripts except the first-prize winner will be shredded.
- Send all manuscripts to:
