Thanks for the kind words
Labels: testimonialThanks to Don Grimme for his kind words about the web site:
What a valuable resource for playwrights! All other clearinghouses for submission opportunities pale in comparison.
For over two years now, you have kept me busy sending my plays to theatres in North America and the U.K. A few of my plays have been accepted for production and/or publication, but just the process of customizing and polishing my work for specific solicitations has been of immense benefit to me as relatively new playwright.

Thanks to Ashlee Mundy for sharing these generous comments about NYCPlaywrights!
I just wanted to send a quick thank you for your site and what it has recently done for me. After coming across it just after the New Year, I've already had my first play produced in San Diego, CA (The Nomads Theatre Company - Youtube video of the production) and this morning I was notified about yet another one to be produced in NYC (Fresh Fruit Festival - which I'll also be directing). I couldn't be more thrilled to have found such a generous, helpful gateway into truly being able to showcase the writer you are and the writer you can be, with the constant amount of work being offered.
I'm really doing what I truly want to with my career, being a working playwright, and I have to extend quite a bit gratitude to NYCPlaywrights for giving me the opportunity to get to that place. And requiring nothing in return but excellence, creativity, and hard work. I can handle that.
Thanks again.
Best,
Ashlee Marie Mundy

Testimonial time
Labels: testimonialThanks to Paul McCormick for his kind words about the site and the 10-minute play article! We're thrilled to help new playwrights get started!
- just a note to thank you for your article "How do you write a good 10-minute play?” I am a med-tech executive, 60, who’s only arts background was raising two daughters who were dancers. As a lark I signed up for a ten week Creative Playwriting course at the American Conservatory Theater here in SF, where I was introduced to the concept of a ten minute play. I was energized and as part of my efforts to supplement the course found your article. Now I have an additional tool with which to review my work.
Thanks

NYCPlaywrights on a roll
Labels: testimonialWe received another lovely testimonial this week - thanks Max Gutmann!
In two weeks, my first play opens, produced by the Playwrights' Round Table in Orlando. I sent it to them after seeing their call for plays at nycp blogspot. Without your website, this first production almost certainly wouldn't be happening.
Thank you for all the submission opportunities you keep me and others informed about!

Wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the blog. I learned about a one-act competition through you, entered, won and am having a staged reading next month. It's the first time my work has been performed, and I'm thrilled.
Never would have happened without the terrific resource you provide out of the goodness of your heart.

Your great blog is an invaluable resource for playwrights. I live in rural Nova Scotia and, though I'm involved in theatre locally, NYC Playwrights is one of the few lifelines that keeps me linked to the larger theatre world. Thanks for making it so thorough and up-to-date.Gary L. Blackwood

NYCPlaywrights received these beautiful, encouraging new years wishes from some nice folks that we just had to share ~ it's a great way to start the new year!
I just wanted to thank you for your weekly email of submissions. I have been using it for a while now and never bothered to thank you for your amazing work. Thank you again and keep up the wonderful work.

Dear NYCPlaywrights:
At the close of one year & the start of a new, I want to thank you so much for the service you provide. I don't know what I would do without you, and I sincerely mean that! Your listings are so complete, so easy to understand, and so up-to-date. And all of this is free to boot! I started out this writing life writing short stories and I've had over 30 published. A few years ago I switched genres to playwriting and I've had (so far!) 20 productions of my plays, and numerous readings. I've even garnered several awards for my plays.
So I would like to award you the non-existent (but clearly from my heart) Sharon Award for Best Playwright Service in the Universe!!!!!!
Happy & healthy new year.
Sharon Goldner

Thanks Ryan and Sharon - it's so good to hear that the web site and email list are helping playwrights.
Happy new year to you too!

NYCPlaywrights testimonial
Labels: testimonialNYCPlaywrights received these kind works recently:
I'm G.D. Kimble, an actor/playwright here in NYC.
Some months ago, I stumbled onto your site-- and since then, I check it every single day. It's become part of my daily routine--- I even have it bookmarked in my smartphone.
I submit to the notices regularly and-- I have to say-- I've had incredible success. Just in the coming weeks and months, I have two productions on the way (both of which are very high profile and huge breaks for me):
My one act: TWO IRISHMEN ARE DIGGING A DITCH goes up for one night only at the Arthur Seelen Theatre in NYC on Thursday, April 18, as part of The Glass Eye's Fresh Produce'd Series. The same play goes up on July 5, in St. Louis at the Gaslight Theatre as part of the St. Louis Actors' Studio's LaBute Festival.
None of that would have been possible without NYCP, and I've made more headway in the last few months than in 6 1/2 years of living and working here.
best,
G.D. Kimble, Brooklyn
Congratulations to G. D. Kimble and thanks for sharing this with us - it's great to know the web site is useful to playwrights.

The Turner Cassity Literary Festival takes the no-fee path
Labels: testimonial
NYCPlaywrights received this lovely email today about our no-fee policy from a planning committee member of the Cultural Arts Council of Douglas County/Douglasville's Turner Cassity Literary Festival.
I took your policy to our committee and all agreed that it would be best to eliminate the fee in order to preserve the good quality of submissions that we have gotten in the past and to foster high-quality writing without undue burdens on playwrights...
As a playwright myself I am most happy that you maintain this policy.
Thank you,
Alice Shapiro
(Alice's web site is www.upstairsamusical.org )
NYCPlaywrights salutes the Turner Cassity Literary Festival committee for their decision. And thanks to Alice Shapiro for sharing her perspective as a playwright. We love to hear from playwrights if we've done something that's been helpful to them.

Thanks to Ralph Greco, Jr. for sending these kind words about NYCPlaywrights:
http://westbeth.org/wordpress/westplay-westbeths-short-play-festival-call-for-plays/
Continued success with your literary endeavors Ralph!
I am a professional freelance writer living in the wilds of NJ suburbia, having had a modicum of good fortune seeing some of my one acts produced across the USA... I count much of this fortune from submission opportunities found through NYCPlaywrights.
The business of play-writing is unlike any other in that a play must really 'get up' to find its fullest potential and as the #1 source for me to learn about theatre writing, meet my contemporaries and find places to submit my work NYCPlaywrights has been indispensable to me.Ralph's play DARK RIDE was the NYCPlaywrights June 2011 Play of the Month selection. And everybody should go see his show PASSENGERS at the Westbeth on October 20.
