SUBMISSION FORM
The Black Women On Broadway Reading Series is a development reading series dedicated to early career Black Women Playwrights. This readings series offers ONE playwright the opportunity to have a relaxed approach to development with a full day of rehearsal culminating in a public reading that evening.
The reading series is scheduled for Monday, November 9th, 2026 with the generous support and partnership with WP Theater.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
- Any early career Black Woman playwright is encouraged to submit (NOTE: Early career = TWO or less professional productions in their career. Productions must have been at a non-profit, regional, commercial off-broadway or non-union theater only. Playwright cannot have been produced on Broadway. )
- The play submitted CANNOT have had a professional or workshop production. (Other developmental readings are fine)
- Only ONE submission per playwright.
- Playwrights CAN re-submit the same play if they have submitted to previous BWOB reading series
- Only FULL LENGTH PLAYS can be submitted. No musicals, no one act plays (i.e. 30 minutes or less,) no 10 minute plays. We are not accepting any solo/one person plays at this time.
- Playwright must be available in person, in New York City for the full day of the scheduled reading series date: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH, 2026. We cannot make any exceptions or provide any hotel, flight or other travel arrangements or accommodations.
- Playwright will receive $500 stipend
