leave no trace theatre company outdoor reading series

web site

Deadline: none specified

The outdoor reading series is intended for new work or adaptation in development, particularly works that are not served best by some traditional theatrical avenue, or by zoom. Immersive work or plays written for non traditional theatre spaces are encouraged. Participants may include playwrights, poets, performers, musicians, directors and a select group of invited responder/participants. Readings will be followed by feedback/Q & A with invited participants.

We are seeking work that is a little "out there." Work that connects to outdoor spaces, urban or natural. Work that challenges our expectations of what a play is. A live poem. A ritual. A participatory experience. A song that can't be recorded. A play in conversation with its setting. Language or content does not have to be experimental in the "experimental theatre" sense.

Work can be early in development, as the fire pit is intended to serve the artist in bringing the art to life, out loud. These are informal readings to serve the development of post-COVID theatre in all its forms.

The 2021 Fall reading series will be held outdoors in Montclair, NJ.

leave no trace theatre is a brand new adventure theatre company creating outdoor & site specific experiences to challenge, transport, and transform participants in hiking, promenade or immersive styles of live performance.

our work is an experiment in what can be theatrically possible outside of a box and instead in symbiosis & synchronicity with the natural world. our work is “out there.” quite literally.

conceived during “COVID times,” we hope to develop work for this new era of live performance, we are currently based in in the New York area with ties to the Southwest.
