The past 12 months have made us all want to scream a collective, 'D@mn, Sh!t, F*ck!"' What better way to shout this frustrations from the rooftops than a play festival centered around the freedom of expressing these feelings?
We welcome any and all play submissions and highly encourage the submission of material involving the expression of feelings about the past year. A scathing commentary on the 2020? Send it. A catharsis on political issues? We love it. A memoir requiring flying expletives every page? You can cuss us out as much as you'd like.
We request that play or excerpt submissions be no longer than 20 minutes. Submissions are due Feb. 14th by Midnight (CST) You must submit these to TheOfficialBasementTheatre@gmail.com
What's in it for you? Fair question. We are offering a cash prize of $200 for our favorite work which will be selected by a panel of four judges. The top four playwrights will have the opportunity to present their work in a public staged reading over Zoom on Feb. 23rd for all participants, friends, and family to view. This will include a rehearsal with our artistic director and a cast of your choosing (more details to follow pending submission).
