The Living Series 2011: Living on the Edge

web site

Piper Theatre Productions is proud to announce its second annual one-act festival, The Living Series. Last year's festival, The Living Series 2010: Making a Living, was a huge success with sold-out audiences on Friday and Saturday nights.

This is a call for playwrights (ideally from the New York City area) to submit one-act plays that revolve around the idea of risk. Healthy risks, dangerous risks, life-changing risks - people making big choices, taking chances, seizing uncertain opportunities, and "living on the edge".

Plays should be five - ten minutes minimum in length and approximately thirty minutes maximum.

Plays should be submitted electronically (preferred) to livingseries@pipertheatre.org or by mail to The Living Series, c/o Rachel Rear, 350 5th Ave, Brooklyn NY 11215. The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2011.

Please include a cover letter with a brief introduction of yourself and your work, your name, address, phone number, email address, and a short synopsis (2 - 3 lines) of your play. Please leave all identifying information off the play itself; this is to ensure unbiased and anonymous assessments by our reading team.

10 - 15 plays will be chosen, produced, and performed at our festival on June 16, 17, and 18, 2011 at BAX/Brooklyn Arts Collective in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
