Geneva Theatre Guild seeks one-act plays

Website

Deadline: February 14, 2023
or after the first 150 submissions are received

PLEASE NOTE: We have now reached the cutoff threshold of 150 submissions!

Geneva Theatre Guild is now accepting submissions of original one-act play scripts with a running time of 30 minutes or less for our annual Playwrights' Play Readings event. The deadline for submissions is February 14, 2023.

This year they plan to present the readings live, in person and via livestream, at local venues the weekend of April 21-23, 2023. All selected playwrights will be invited to participate in a talk-back session after each play, giving writers of all ages the chance to not only experience the actors' interpretations of their work but to receive audience feedback in real time.

Every play which meets our guidelines will be given a blind review by our play selection committee. Selected playwrights will be notified in the week following March 19th.

The guidelines for all submissions are as follows:

A blind copy without any information identifying the author of the play should be submitted electronically in PDF format to the Geneva Theatre Guild’s season planning address: seasonplanninggtg@gmail.com.

A separate title page (also in PDF format) should include the title of the play, the playwright’s name, address, phone number, email address, and approximate running time of the play.

Include a brief synopsis of the plot, setting, and a list of characters before the first page of dialogue.

All pages must be numbered.

Limit - one play per author which cannot have been previously published or submitted to the Geneva Theatre Guild’s Playwrights Play Readings.

PLEASE NOTE: The number of submissions accepted will be cut off after the first 150 have been received.

Auditions for Playwrights Play Readings are scheduled for March 27 and 28 at the Presbyterian Church in Geneva. Further information about auditions will be released in early March.
