Seeking short plays for young audiences

web site

Lit on Fire will be a collection of roughly ten-minute parodies of common titles from high school English class reading lists. Selected plays will be published as part of the collection, and licensed individually for performance.

Plays should be aimed at high school performers, but with the ability to cross over to universities, and middle schools looking for a challenge.

Our preference is for parodies of novels or other non-dramatic material (i.e. not plays).

To see examples of the kind of thing we're looking for, check out these plays that are already published by YouthPLAYS (http://youthplays.com) and destined for the collection:
  • Everything you need to know about The Scarlet Letter in 10 minutes or less by Don Zolidis
  • HKFN: The Abbreviated Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Jeff Goode (ten-minute version)
  • Moby (No Last Name Given) by Arthur M. Jolly
