Television Writing at Primary Stages ESPA

This class is for playwrights who want the tools to transition from stage to screen. Writing for television has the potential to be not only artistically satisfying, but lucrative as well—just ask Sarah Treem from “The Affair”, Zakiyyah Alexander from “Grey’s Anatomy”, Aaron Sorkin from “The Newsroom”, or Joshua Allen from “Empire”, among many other playwrights-turned-television writers. In this 10-week class, you'll receive feedback on in-class exercises and writing assignments while absorbing the details of the episodic structure of half-hour comedies and one-hour dramas. By the end of the semester, you'll have a complete pilot or spec script and the means to create powerful, distinctive, and commercially-viable television.
