Membership options

You can become a writer member or an actor member, and you can be both at the same time.

Actors

There is no fee for actors who wish to join NYCPlaywrights - if you participate in two NYCPlaywrights meetings as an actor and fill out an Actor Membership Form, you can be added to the database. Several NYCPlaywrights actor members have been contacted for acting gigs because somebody saw them in our database. However, if you don't attend any meetings, and/or we don't hear from you during a 6-month period you may be removed from the database.

You can get an actor membership form here.

Writers

Member writers are entitled to up to 30 minutes of reading time per meeting (except for the end-of-the-month full-length readings.) Once you become a member, you can use our members' sign-up form (available in the members-only area of this web site) to reserve reading time up to 8 weeks in advance. Reading time is distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Membership requirements:
You need to sit in on at least one meeting.
You need to fill out a Writers Membership Form.
You need to submit a ten-page sample of writing - a play script is preferred, but an essay, short story, or other work is acceptable.
You need to pay $55 for a six-month membership period. If you can't afford to pay $55 all at once, a payment plan can be arranged.
