Babes With Blades' International Playwriting Competition

Script Submission Requirements:

· Scripts must be 60-90 minutes in length
· The fight depicted in the painting MUST appear in the play

Please consider:
· We prefer to produce plays with all-female casts. For the purposes of this competition, we will accept mixed-gender submissions provided that male characters appear only in supporting roles.

· We tend to work in small- to mid-sized black box theatres, so small casts and simple settings will be favored.

· The fight that appears in the painting need not be the only fight in the production - in fact we encourage playwrights to include multiple fighting roles.

Scripts can be submitted via email or snail mail. Please include all contact information with submission!

Email: swordandpen@babeswithblades.org

needcompany submission policy

Submission Policy:
As part of our firm commitment to presenting new work, needcompany continually accepts script submissions from playwrights and/or their representatives. In order to foster working relationships with new artists, aid scripts in their development process, and prepare shows for possible turns on our mainstage, in 2007 needcompany is launching an ongoing series of workshops and staged readings.
We accept submissions for both short plays and full-length works. We seek pieces that push the boundaries of LA Theater convention: the edgy, the absurd, the socially significant, the multi-cultural, the lovely, the ugly, the absurd, the poetic, the prosaic, the fringe, the indie.
In order for your submission to receive consideration, please send:
1. A cover letter complete with a brief synopsis and production/reading history of the piece as well as the playwright's current contact information, especially an email address.
2. The playwright's artistic resume, if applicable.
3. One copy of the entire play script, complete with a title page that also includes the contact information.
