St. Paul’s Arts Council 2019 Short Play Festival

web site

The St. Paul’s Arts Council is showcasing original, never before produced short plays in a Short Play Festival, February 24, 2019. Plays are to be in one of two categories: 2-Minute and 10-Minute plays.
The theme for this year’s festival is “Coming Together: Healing Our Divisions.” Topics may include such issues as racial, cultural, and economic divisions. The goal of the festival is to provide positive and encouraging ways to bridge our differences and bring us together.

Plays selected to be a part of the 2019 Short Play Festival will receive rehearsals with professional quality actors and directors, then presented in a staged reading for our audience.

Guidelines:

We are looking for original works which have not been published and have not had a full premiere production. Plays are to be either two minutes or ten minutes in length. We are not accepting musicals and the cast shall be limited to six.

Submission:

Submitted plays should address the thematic guidelines as listed above and be submitted by the deadline. Early submission is encouraged. We are only accepting electronic submissions in PDF format. Please do not submit paper manuscripts.

Send an email to parishoffice@stpaulna.org with the following in the body of the email: Play Title, Name of Playwright(s), Contact information (email and phone), Synopsis of the play and cast requirements.

Attach a PDF copy of your script with just the title on the cover. As our readers are reading blind we request that you please not include playwright or contact information on the submitted
script. Email all submissions by December 15, 2018.

One submission per playwright.

Evaluation:

All submissions will be screened by a blind panel of readers for appropriateness of topic, theatricality, and overall quality. Each play will receive scores from a minimum of 2 readers. Highly-scored plays from the first round will be read by additional readers and scored until a short list of plays is determined.
