CALLING ALL FEMALE PLAYWRIGHTS OF COLOR
We are currently accepting scripts focused on the following subjects:
1.THE CARETAKER'S JOURNEY
The Loved One and/or The Caregiver
2.HARASSMENT WHILE JUST WALKING DOWN THE STREET
Sexual and/or Other
3.WOMEN EMBRACING THEIR RACE AND CULTURE
and/or Those Who Don't
4.SKIN COLOR & HAIR TEXTURE
Light and/or Dark /Straight vs. Nappy and/or Good vs. Bad
5.AGING IN A YOUTH ORIENTED CULTURE
Fearing it and/or embracing it
6.STANDARDS SET FOR WOMEN’S APPEARANCE
Over Sexualization by the Music Industry and/or the Media

THERE ARE NO ENTRY FEES
The plays chosen will be part of a SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL in the Spring/Summer of 2016 in New York City.
THE GUIDELINES:
16 Minute plays by female playwrights of color
- New and never produced
- Limit of 2 plays
- Estimated running time of 10 to 16 minutes.
- Please be mindful of cast size.
- The submission deadline is Monday February 29th, 2016
- Only e-mail submissions addressed to director@goingtotheriver.com will be considered.
- All submissions in a PDF Format and organized as follows:
a. Page 1 Cover Page to include: The Title, estimated running time, the playwright’s name, address, city, zip code, phone numbers and email address.
b. Page 2 a biography of the playwright
c. Page 3 Character Breakdown
d. Page 4 Begin the body of the play and add title and numbers to each page.
