Submit your “LONGER” SHORT ONE ACT PLAY (21 minutes to 45 minutes) for Manhattan Rep’s SHORT PLAY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
October 1 - October 10, 2015
There are a myriad of ONE ACT FESTIVALS for short one act plays 7 to 20 minutes in New York City, but how do you develop a “Longer” Short One Act play? How do you try it out in front of an audience to see if it works, so you can possibly develop it into a full-length play? Our Short Play Development Project might be the solution you are seeking.
Manhattan Repertory Theatre is seeking New, Never-Produced before “Longer” Short One Act Play productions to participate in our Short Play Development Project Play Series at our theatre on 42nd St (at 8th Ave.) in October. We are seeking short one act plays (21 to 45 minutes) which will be brought into our theatre by you, fully cast, directed and ready to be performed. We will provide a lighting and sound technician to help you with your tech and run the sound and light board the nights of your show. We will also help you with anything you might need in terms of developing your play - script discussion, set, lighting and sound concerns, direction and more. Since we began our play development focus here at Manhattan Rep, we have run a number of these Short Play Development Projects and they have been hugely successful for all involved and many have built their short plays into full-length plays after presenting their work here. And it is fun too!
Each play will be given a minimum of two performances, (possibly more,) a Tech rehearsal with our technician, and a Full Dress rehearsal.
